CBD Oil

Can CBD Oil Relieve Symptoms of Glaucoma?

Cannabidiol, better known as CBD is a very important phytochemical that is a partial constituent of cannabis sativa. Cannabidiol is an unshared phytochemical that belongs to the ginger family. It is among the nine identified cannabidiols in cannabis and accounts for more than 40% of the total plant's whole extract. It has been found to have multiple effects on human health, thus it has become a breakthrough drug in the field of medicine.

The most important effect of CBD is its role in the control of inflammation. Inflammation is considered one of the main causes of disease in modern society. It contributes to the development of numerous chronic illnesses including depression. This new therapy not only provides relief from the symptoms of depression but also improves the patient's quality of life by reducing the frequency of his or her attacks of anxiety and depression. In addition, CBD oil has been found to be very beneficial for patients who suffer from sleep apnea and other sleep-related disorders.

Besides its anti-inflammatory properties, CBD oil may also be useful in the treatment of cancer. There are several reports in the medical literature on the usefulness of this substance in controlling the symptoms of chemotherapy and in combating prostate cancer. When given along with chemotherapy, CBD significantly decreased the intensity of symptoms of nausea and vomiting, decreased the need for frequent urination, and relieved pain. This is attributed to the fact that CBD has a high affinity for the delta-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in the brain and is therefore able to bypass these receptors to reach the brain's receptors. This has been shown to be very useful in the treatment of seizures caused by the occurrence of certain brain lesions.

In addition, the CBD is helpful in treating depression, another condition often treated with synthetic medications. However, it is not known whether CBD is as effective as pharmaceutical medicines in the treatment of these symptoms. The reason for this is that CBD is not a psychoactive drug, unlike the psychoactive substances (including atypical antipsychotics) such as Sertraline and Elavil. Sertraline and Elavil act on the brain's five senses, while CBD only affects one of them (their, or visual, nerve). Also, because CBD does not bind to GABA receptors, it is unlikely that it will have the stimulating effect on GABA that the pharmaceutical drugs have, thereby improving mood.Learn more at CBD Oil Reviews

However, when compared to the effects of prescription medications, CBD appears to be more effective and safer. One study comparing the therapeutic effects of Sertraline and Elavil on patients with chronic depression showed that patients taking CBD had a greater reduction in the severity of the depression symptoms than patients taking Sertraline. Similarly, a phase III clinical trial comparing the efficacy and safety of Droncitabine and Vixen versus placebo showed a significant improvement in patients taking Cbd oil vs. placebo. Another study comparing two different formulations of cannabidiol (CBD) found that CBD oil was significantly more effective than the commonly prescribed Strattera in patients with Alzheimer's disease. However, some patients responded to the anticonvulsant properties of CBD by having a seizure, which may account for the increase in reports of this side effect. However, this effect appeared to be due to a distinct dose of CBD, rather than the oil itself.

The precise mechanism by which CBD oil works is not known, and there are no adequate data comparing CBD with other pharmacological agents. However, anecdotal evidence suggests that long-term use of CBD might have some serotonergic effects, possibly similar to the effects of prescription antidepressants (e.g., amitriptyline and trazodone). In one case, a woman began taking two bottles of Cbd supplements every day and soon felt less anxious and had more energy. However, she continued to take the supplements for 6 months without incident. It is unclear whether her increased energy was caused by the supplement or by the antidepressant.

In addition to anticonvulsant and antidepressant properties, some users report that CBD has a sedative effect and can alleviate the negative side effects of certain anxiety and depression medications. This is probably due to the low doses usually administered in such medications and the lack of a stimulating effect on the serotonin system. CBD is used very frequently as an alternative to marijuana, as it produces fewer side effects. However, it is difficult to assess CBD's efficacy in treating conditions associated with anxiety and/or depression without a placebo comparison.

Because CBD is a natural substance, it may have fewer side effects than drugs like ibuprofen or acetaminophen. However, people with pre-existing conditions should always consult a medical professional before starting a course of treatment with CBD oil may be appropriate. Long-term treatment with CBD may also reduce the side effects of some pharmaceutical medications, especially those that are used to treat inflammation.
